Is it unhealthy to drink a mixture of fruits blended together with raw eggs?
When I was younger, some of my family members would make a drink with random fruits in it and add some raw eggs to it. It would turn out to be delicious with a thick foam at the top. Does the acidity in some of the fruits kill anything that could be harmful?
If I added oranges or lemon to it, would it kill the ecoli causing bacteria? I heard some chefs crack raw eggs to their salads.
I looked around for some while on the internet to see if there are any recipies that use eggs for fruit drinks. I found one site. I guess the use of eating raw eggs is up for debate. http://www.eggwhitesint.com/recipes.htm
My mom used to make me shakes with raw eggs in them as a kid. Now there is so much e choli in the chicken and egg supply even organic that this does not work. You may be able to purchase some pasturized egg white product at the natural store. Check to see if they have anything like that.
It is the same thing if people think the wasabi kills bacteria on the sushi. It does not you just have to get quality sushi at a restaurant that knows what they are doing.
Be careful with the eggs. There are so many good protein powders out there. Spiruteen is one of my favorites and it is very low cal high protein. If you do not like that one there are tons of others. You can put a bannana and ice in the blender with one of those products and the fruit of your choice and you will get something really great.
