My Shih-Tzu loves to eat my olives olive tree in the garden. Is that OK?

I have an olive tree in the garden. I'm not quiet one years for Jenna was. She is 23 months old. She was a rescue and I think if they live "on the streets," she learned to eat the olives from the local trees. They will not eat many. But if they are black and fall out of the tree, which she eats 2-3 per day. I try to rake it in, but it is impossible to get all of them. I encourage not, they eat, but I can not stop it completely without getting rid of the tree. It has no negative effects from eating them. I can not find anything, that everything about Dogs eating raw olives online says. My vet says he does not know that it is bad for dogs, but says I should try to keep them busy. Anyone have any insight into this behavior in dogs?
